New CoachBike allows riders to create their own, interactive 'routes'

By

Fitness equipment firm Freemotion has launched a new content-driven indoor bike, which it says will deliver a "game-changing experience" for riders.

Powered by interactive fitness platform iFit, the new CoachBike will feature tens of thousands of workouts, with a stated USP of offering "unprecedented amount of choice" to riders.

As well as traditional trainer-led workouts, the bike will offer customised Google Maps routes and the opportunity for riders to virtually take part in famous events – such as Tour de France.

A key feature of the CoachBike is its terrain-matching technology, which auto-adjusts the speed, incline, and resistance in sync with the chosen route (or studio session), which is displayed on a 22-inch interactive HD touch screen.

By accurately simulating the hill climbs and downward stretches of outdoor cycling, the CoachBike offers a "unique, true-to-life experience".

CoachBike will also integrate with Google Maps and terrain-matching technology in a way that will enable users to create and cycle their own routes anywhere in the world – such as their daily commute or their favourite countryside ride.

In addition to the CoachBike’s technological innovations, it also has a number of physical design elements, which aim to strengthen to create a “real feel” experience for riders. These include a built-in AutoBreeze fan, which automatically adjusts the flow to the rider's pace, dual-sided pedals (SPD on one side and toe strap on the other), versatile handlebars (with convenient controls for resistance and incline), a 5:1 gear ratio, and a free-wheel design.

"A tremendous amount of product research, development, and testing has gone into the creation of the CoachBike, and we're excited to share it with the world," said Dan Toigo, Freemotion's managing director.

"The CoachBike is designed to fit in any setting – from hotel gyms to boutique studios.

"I truly believe that the CoachBike and the entire content-driven series provide the best, most interactive, and immersive experience in the world."

The programming available on CoachBike will be further expanded with the upcoming release of live workouts.

CoachBike will be launched onto the US market in earl 2020 and will then be rolled out globally later in the year.
