Future Fit returns as Elevate’s official Education Partner for 2024
Future Fit will be returning as the official Education Partner for Elevate 2024, cementing their industry-leading reputation for raising the bar in the world of physical activity. The partnership continues a legacy of education provision between the two organisations, with their shared values for innovation and collaboration exemplifying what makes Elevate so unique.

Offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities, Elevate brings together over 250 leading suppliers with gamechangers and decision makers within the health and fitness industry, making it the UK’s largest trade show dedicated to fitness, sport and physical activity.

The 2023 show saw Future Fit take to the stage to host panel discussions, presentations and interviews that shared the expertise garnered through thirty years in the physical activity industry. But, in a sector-first, Future Fit and Elevate continued to work together after the event to take these conversations beyond the show itself, with the pioneering Beyond the Talk series that has continued throughout the year.

Building upon the important discussions that began at Elevate, Beyond the Talk brought together renowned industry names like John Oxley, CEO at Life Leisure, Andy King, Director of Miova and Martyn Oakey, Head of Fitness at Everlast Gyms to dig deeper into the challenges facing the physical activity sector and how we can work together to overcome them, raising professional standards and making an impact to the health of the nation.

When it comes to providing learning and development solutions to benefit the sector, the willingness of Future Fit to continually evolve fits perfectly with the ethos of Elevate. Nowhere is this demonstrated more clearly, than in the work that Future Fit are doing around Leadership and Management, not only creating education to support the leaders of today, but looking forwards to create the leadership the sector will need tomorrow.

Carl Richards, Head of Group Operations and Education at Future Fit, explained why the continued partnership with Elevate was so important; “We know that, as a sector, collaboration is key to tackling health inequalities and driving forwards with the Pivot to Active Wellbeing, so having the opportunity to work with Elevate again this year means that we can be pivotal in creating those conversations, and then using them to build learning and development solutions that organisations need to best support their employees and their communities.” As a participant in the inaugural episode of Beyond the Talk, Carl knows the importance of ensuring that the issues highlighted at Elevate are used to generate action; having headed up a discussion around inclusivity in fitness and education, Future Fit are now working with Paralympian and founder of Accessercise, Ali Jawad, to create EDI training to support both a more diverse workforce, and reach a wider section of the population.

The partnership between Elevate and Future Fit signals a commitment from both to continue to support innovation throughout the health and wellbeing space. Having announced the acquisition of both iCareiMove, and Biomechanics Education, at previous Elevate events, Future Fit will be aiming to continue their legacy for thought leadership and evolution at this year’s event.

Reflecting on the future direction of the sector, Carl added “Both Future Fit and Elevate want to help change the perception and role of the traditional leisure model so that it can fully support the health sector, enabling communities to reduce inactivity and build healthier lifestyles. We know this will take not only collaboration, but education, and we’re proud to be working together to create that.”

Elevate will take place at the London Excel Arena on the 12th and 13th of June 2024; register to attend here.

Elevate 2023 sparks paradigm shifts in health and fitness communication at thought leaders stage
Elevate 2023, the leading trade show in the UK focused on fitness, sport, and physical activity, hosted a memorable panel last month, blending stimulating conversation and captivating artwork to tackle the debate around the future of the industry.

The session – "Language in Health, Fitness, and Leisure: Redrawing the Future" on the Thought Leaders Stage – was hosted by David Stalker, President of Europe Active. The session was constructed to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of the health, fitness, and leisure sectors, shedding light on how the sector needs to move forward to meet the population's evolving needs.

Muir Gray, director at The Optimal Ageing Programme, explored the language used in these industries, encouraging participants to rethink their communication approaches, via a video presentation. His approach explored the traditional use of language and the impact this has on behaviours and actions.

Tanya Hall, EGYM, provided an honest and open view on how the sector fails to market and support those not driven by aesthetics, highlighting how the movement towards health with easy to access data is essential for engaging the inactive.

The focus of the session was the audience and the range of experts in the room that Elevate brings together. Rather than a traditional panel session with the audience asking questions, Stalker turned this on its head – asking the audience their thoughts, experiences, concerns and proposals – highlighting that the whole sector must work together to deliver change and forward thinking.

A live illustrator visually captured the key points and discussions, providing a creative summary of the main takeaways from the conversation, which we are delighted to share with the sector.

One of the key findings highlighted during the session was the need to change the language to reflect the shift of the sector towards health. It emphasised moving from "leisure" to "population health" and shifting the focus from "acceptance" to "welcoming".

The session also stressed that the industry should move beyond the pursuit of appearance and reject previous marketing messages that have proven to be counterproductive and not respected by the health markets.

"The Language in Health, Fitness, and Leisure: Redrawing the Future" session aimed to challenge and reimagine the language used within these industries. By fostering critical discussions and capturing diverse viewpoints, it sought to shape a more purposeful and future-oriented communication framework.

Elevate 2023 extended its gratitude to the special guests and industry professionals who actively participated in this thought-provoking session, recognising their integral role in shaping the future of the health, fitness, and leisure sectors.

Not only is Elevate a great opportunity to discover new products and make exclusive deals, but it’s also one of the most expansive networking events in the industry!

For the first time since 2019, the Elevate team is delighted to announce that Precor will be joining the exhibition floor and sponsoring the Business of Physical Activity Theatre – one of Elevate’s 11 conference theatres.

Curated by Precor, the theatre will host a programme of panels and talks from thought leaders and experts who’ll share engaging, topical insights and expertise focused on innovation, design engineering and current trends in our industry.

“Precor is thrilled to be back at Elevate in 2023 – the UK’s foremost fitness event,” says Scott Trinder, Precor UK sales director. “For over four decades, Precor has driven fitness forward with a passionate focus on ergonomic motion, proven science, and superior engineering.”

In addition to the fantastic contribution of the theatre sponsorship, Precor will showcase its top-of-the-line cardio solutions, including the Precor StairClimber. Using patented technology, this innovation is indicative of Precor’s principles of high quality product development.

Lucy Findlay, Elevate event director, concluded: “Both the exhibition floor and education streams at Elevate mirror the UK physical activity market.

“Over the years, Elevate has seen a shift to more functional fitness products, connection to health and a best-in-class approach. The event provides a key opportunity for UK buyers to connect and work with the industry's most integral brands.”
