A new tracking device is currently in development, which not only keeps a record of your sleeping patterns, steps taken and calories burned, but also features a mechanism to alert others when you take a serious fall.
SenseGiz Star works as a complement to a smartphone through an app supporting Android and iOS platforms, with real-time data sent from the wearable device to your phone for presentation.
The accessory has been designed to detect if its user suffers a fall or crash using patent-pending algorithms, which automatically send notifications to family and friends listed in the app via an alarm along with a text message.
The Star also features a panic button, which can be pressed when in an emergency and also a pre-set countdown timer to prevent false alarms being sent.
Away from its safety measures, the device functions like a pedometer; tracking the number of steps taken, calories burnt and distance covered. It also tracks sleep quality in terms of light sleep vs. deep sleep and interruptions.
"What really sets the SenseGiz Star apart is an integrated crash/fall alert system. The device senses crash level forces and sends an audible alert to your emergency contacts through an iOS or Android app,” said Abhishek Latthe, CEO of the company behind the device.
“We've also built in a panic button so you can send alerts with a couple to presses. The SenseGiz Star is designed to save lives.”
The Star’s creators are hoping that they’re able to start shipping the watch later this year, with SenseGiz also launching a fundraising scheme via Indiegogo to continue with the development of the Star.
