The Shredquarters partners with Physical Company to underpin expansion plans

By

Functional training gym, The Shredquarters, has moved into franchising, partnering with Physical Company to support its rapid growth.

Located in Reading, UK, The Shredquarters was conceived as a truly member-centric functional training gym in 2016.

Described by owner, Adam Waters, as “a big warehouse space with banging music”, the ethos is to keep things simple.

“Ours is a high-end offering without the high-end price tag. Our focus is on supporting members towards the results they want. Substance first, then style.”

Having made its mark in Reading, over recent months Waters has had significant interest from people wanting to take on a Shredquarters franchise.

The first opened in Twyford in late September, and Waters also revealed that there are plans for destinations in Plymouth, Bath and Brighton.

The perfect partner

Extensive research led Waters to partner with Physical Company for the Twyford club.

“The equipment is really good quality and priced well, plus we’re also able to get everything we need from one supplier – including flooring – where previously we were sourcing different things from different places.

“That makes Physical a great partner for our turnkey franchise package: good quality, affordable and a one-stop-shop.”

He continued: “Physical also helped us with the design, by producing 3D models. We knew exactly what we wanted, having created a unique look and feel at Reading, but of course, that needed to fit the available space at Twyford.

“Importantly, I chose to work with Physical because they’re nice people who deliver what they say they’re going to, when they say they’ll do it. I’m all about relationships, so Physical Company will be kitting out our franchises moving forward.”

Fuelling success

Waters added: “I believe the high level of interest in our franchise model comes down to the fact that it’s a great product – as good as anything out there – at an affordable price.

“By keeping it simple in terms of equipment and fit-out, the investment needed to build a Shredquarters club is very reasonable. We put franchisees directly in contact with Physical Company too, so they get the best possible price on equipment – no commission to us.

“Ultimately, we’re in it for the long haul. We don’t focus on making money upfront: we just want to make it affordable, get franchisees out there and make them successful.”

“It’s a pleasure to work with someone as passionate as Adam,” says Physical Company account manager, Paul Farrell.

“His genuine desire to help members and franchisees – his long-term view that his success will only come from their success – will, I’m sure, see The Shredquarters continue its rapid growth.”
