The Oura ring is now fully integrated with athlete’s social network Strava

By
A partnership between Strava and Oura has been announced
The assimilation means data from both can be shared in users' private and public feeds
Strava’s data will be reflected by Oura in its “readiness” and “activity” scores
This integration has been the most common request from Oura subscribers

Strava and Oura have teamed up to provide users with a more integrated service between the two systems. Oura members can now seamlessly import Strava data into their Oura account and can also automatically share Oura activities into their private or public Strava feed.

This means that even when Oura users aren’t wearing their ring while doing an activity, such as a run or bike ride, the session can still be recorded and reflected in their Oura “readiness” and “activity” scores. These offer Oura subscribers a holistic view of their health by analysing activity, sleep patterns and body signals, such as heart rate, heart rate variability and body temperature. Oura gives a score from 0-100 to indicate the level of stress the user is under and if they need any recovery or rest.

“The partnership with Strava provides Oura members with a more comprehensive activity offering and helps us gain a more complete view of our members’ activities, so we can empower them with better insights and recommendations,” said Brian Gilan, product manager at Oura. “This also allows Strava athletes to gain a broader view of their health by going beyond performance data to include rest and recovery metrics that they can easily share with their network.”

Oura’s team revealed that linking Strava and Oura had been the most common request from its subscribers. The move marks Oura’s first integration outside of Apple HealthKit and Google Fit which allows health data to be imported into the Oura app.

For Strava, the partnership comes just two months after Strava acquired Recover Athletics, an integration that provides its users with evidence-based prehab workouts to runners.

“At Strava, we are always working to provide the 100m athletes on our platform with the best tools to power the activities they love,” said Mateo A Ortega, the senior director of connected partnerships.

“This partnership with Oura gives athletes the ability to seamlessly evaluate performance, rest, and recovery all in one place to get a well-rounded view on their health.”
