Online fitness platform TV.FIT – which specialises in "affordable and flexible" workouts – has launched a new app which will enable members to stream content directly to their smartphone, tablet or TV.
According to TV.FIT founder, David Weir, the new app will follow the company's philosophy of reimagining the traditional fitness business model which he says targets the 15 per cent of the population that goes to the gym.
Instead, Weir says, TV.FIT and the new Truconnect will act to support "the other 85 per cent".
“We appreciate the individual, which is why all our programmes are adaptable, with modifications available to suit all skill levels," Weir said.
"You can create your own workout, repeat a friend’s workout, involve your kids in our family-friendly workouts, or simply have some downtime to meditate - Truconnect has something for everyone.”
The new service will also offer access to more than 45 e-books, including ones targeted at young adults.
Weir said the launch comes as the company experiences "huge growth" – partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic changing people's fitness habits.
The company expects turnover to reach £5m this year – and says it's projecting the figure to increase to £20m during 2021. However, with the £5m based on two million users and the ambition to grow to five million users by the end of March 2021, these numbers may need some further analysis.
Weir says: “To date, we've completed deals to service two million users globally, but we expect that to increase to five million by the end of March next year (2021)."
With a presence in 71 countries, Weir said the launch of the Truconnect app is part of plans to "create the world’s largest virtual fitness community".
"We recently signed a partnership with a leading UK fitness network which will give a further 2.7 million users access to our platform.”
TV.FIT memberships are priced at £9.99 a month and workouts range from HIIT, yoga and Barre to circuit training and dedicated ‘Silver Sessions’ for seniors.
The platform also offers mental health and lifestyle e-books for children and adults, created by Professor Chris Williams, whose work is prescribed by the NHS.
