This is a fantastic opportunity for Myzone to replicate our technology in the virtual world to help encourage more people to become more active
– Dave Wright, CEO, Myzone

Myzone is exploring Web3 and metaverse possibilities through a partnership with digital fitness company OliveX. The tie-up will provide a platform for fitness enthusiasts to try out Myzone’s five heart rate zones and acquire more knowledge about their impact on the body during exercise. The new space will launch in 2023.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Myzone to replicate our technology in the virtual world to help encourage more people to become more active,” said Dave Wright, CEO of Myzone. “We’ve already built a large community of fitness enthusiasts that are rewarded for their efforts, so bringing that ethos and aim to the fitness metaverse is perfectly in line with what OliveX and Myzone are trying to achieve.”

OliveX provides gamified fitness experiences through its fitness metaverse which is within the Sandbox, a metaverse based on the Ethereum blockchain. The collaboration is in sync with the company’s plans to invest in and incubate up-and-coming Web3 fitness games and experiences. Other fitness-focused partners include TRIB3 and Go24 Fitness.

During the summer OliveX finalised a partnership with Melbourne-based development studio Parasol to develop three new games over three years which would use utility token Dose (users can earn these for rewards). The first is aimed at fitness gamers who enjoy bodyweight workouts.

“Myzone is one of the largest brands within the fitness industry and the leading brand for wearables and gamification, so we’re incredibly proud to be able to welcome them to our fitness metaverse,” said Andy Hall, chief operating officer at OliveX. “Dave and his team have created a globally recognisable brand with a great purpose and their vision and forward thinking aligns well with the work that we are doing at OliveX.”

Myzone’s wearable fitness technology is designed to create motivational fitness experiences, which rewards users for effort over fitness level, creating a level playing field for its two million users. Through its community and app, which was released at the start of 2022, members can play and compete against each other as effort is turned into points.

“Our vision is to be the go-to data collector of physical activity evidence for the world to help shape government policy around the benefits of exercise and to motivate the world to be more physically active,” Wright told HCM in an exclusive interview earlier this year.

OliveX is designed for those who exercise at home, in the gym and outdoors and operates in 170 countries. Myzone is present in over 9,000 facilities in 84 countries.
