The introduction of Row workouts is our next logical step in ensuring we can offer a complete hybrid workout proposition
– Dan Shellard, CEO of Fiit

Fiit has teamed up with Concept2 to launch Fiit Row, its first connected rowing programme in response to the growing consumer demand for at-home and hybrid rowing.

Fiit Row joins the platform’s Air Bike and Tread workouts, providing rowing workouts through Concept2’s RowErgs. Metrics such as stroke per minute, kcal (output), distance travelled and reps are tracked enabling users to compete on Fiit’s global leaderboard.

“Our aim is to continue breaking down the barriers to fitness by offering an affordable solution that allows members to maximise their workouts whether they’re at the gym or home,” said Dan Shellard, CEO of Fiit. “The introduction of Row workouts is the next logical step in ensuring we can offer a complete hybrid workout proposition – one that responds to the changing nature of how people both work and work out today. Whether members are working out at home or in the gym, we can now offer them fitness on their terms, at the touch of a button."

Fiit Row will deliver a ‘Train, Recover and Compete’ programming model. Trainers will guide members through progressive workouts that run for 10 (Sprint), 25 (Metcon) or 40 (Endure) minutes in order to target all three energy systems to build strength, power and stamina.

Users, from beginners to experts, can also join a Row Academy, which has been developed by expert trainers to teach rowing fundamentals through a series of ten-minute tutorials.

Concept2 was founded in 1976 by brothers Pete and Dick Dreissigacker, a former Olympic rower. Their first rowing machines launched in 1981 and while they are used by athletes and individuals alike, the brand is associated with Olympic success – according to the company, all medal-winning crews at the 2016 Rio Olympics trained with Concept2. Since its early days, the company has diversified its product line to include a SkiErg and BikeErg.

“Our primary goal is to promote and encourage the growth of rowing, ensuring it can be as accessible as possible to all,” said Alex Dunne, MD of Concept2. “As tech continues to shape the future of all sports, we’re hugely excited to be able to integrate our RowErgs with the Fiit platform. Now our community has the chance to further track progress, compete with the wider community and compare efforts.”

Users can access the new Fiit Row workouts and Row Academy under Fiit’s new Only Plans subscription for £7.99 per month, but the full interactive experience is available solely to those with unlimited monthly (£19.99) and yearly membership.

The rowing space is gaining traction with Peloton recently launching Peloton Row as Hydrow released a lighter and less expensive version of its rower, the Hydrow Wave. Both companies have struggled to maintain sales since the pandemic boom and are trying to expand their consumer base by tapping into a wider market.
