The Neko Body Scan scanner collects 50 million data points in minutes to give a full picture of health
Cancer, heart disease and arthritis are among the diseases it can detect in the early stages
The first site in Stockholm has already flagged up serious health issues in people with no symptoms

A London health centre has just opened offering a 10-minute body scan, for £299, which can flag up a range of health risks including cancer and cardiovascular disease.

The Neko Body Scan is the brainchild of Spotify founder, Daniel Ek, along with co-founder Hjalmar Nilsonne. Operated by a medically-trained professional, the scanner uses more than 70 sensors to collect 50 million data points, checking moles, symptoms of metabolic syndrome, risk factors for stroke and heart attack, blood fats and blood sugar levels to assess pre-diabetes risk, skin cancer and blood abnormalities.

Results are delivered in an hour via a personalised consultation with one of the Neko Health doctors, who will manually check any moles. Blood tests are also taken and blood sugar and cholesterol levels checked. Members get access to a summary of their health data in an app, where they can also track their results.

London’s Marylebone Health Centre is the second site from Swedish preventative healthcare company, Neko Health. The first site launched last year in Stockholm and all available slots sold out in less than two hours. There are currently 20,000 people on the waiting list. More Health Centres are set to be announced across Europe.

Nilsonne says it’s a game changer for preventative health: “In the UK, you are required to do an MOT on your car. However, when it comes to your body, you often need to break down before seeing a doctor.

“Our healthcare systems were designed decades ago, they haven't kept pace with rising costs or demand – a trend that we collectively need to find a way to reverse. To bend the cost curve of healthcare, we need to shift towards proactive, preventive care.”

Of the 2,707 people scanned in Sweden, 78.5 per cent had no health issues; 14.1 per cent required medical treatment and 1 per cent received potentially life-saving treatment for severe conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, severe metabolic diseases and skin cancer.

None of these individuals were aware of their condition prior to their visit. The age range for those receiving life-saving treatment was 33 to 79 years old and 26 per cent were under 50-years-old.

The waitlist for London is now open: www.nekohealth.com/gb/en
