Global gym software company ABC Fitness Solutions has entered an agreement to acquire boutique fitness management platform Glofox. The merger will extend ABC Fitness Solutions’ reach to 31m members in around 24,000 locations worldwide. The deal is expected to complete before the end of the year.

Glofox was founded in 2014 by professional rugby player Conor O'Loughlin (CEO), ex-EY exec Finn Hegarty (CPO), and former Matheson lawyer Anthony Kelly (CCO). A venture-backed SaaS company, it has a workforce of 220 employees and customers in 80 countries.

“To be able to align with a partner that shares the same purpose and values, and that can provide additional resources to drive innovation and accelerated international growth, is a tremendous advantage to our team and our customers,” said O’Loughlin, co-founder and CEO of Glofox. “As part of ABC Fitness Solutions, Glofox has an extremely exciting future, and we look forward to taking the combined business to the next level.”

Founded in 1981, ABC supports 20,000 clubs and facilities in 75 countries. The Glofox acquisition will follow a series of integrations, comprising GymSales in July 2020, Trainerize in September 2020, and Fitness BI in April 2021. They enabled the company to launch ABC Ignite, which offers fitness clients an expanded product suite across, sales, membership, engagement, operations, commerce and insights.

By acquiring Glofox’s product and client base, ABC can now expand its reach, supporting operations of all sizes – from gym chains to boutique studios and personal trainers – in a greater number of locations.

Bill Davis, CEO of ABC Fitness Solutions, said: “When combined with our existing strength in North and Latin America, as well as our software solutions for the personal trainer and commercial fitness club sectors, we now have a combined offering greater than the sum of its parts and

– we believe – unrivalled by any company in the industry.”

Following the acquisition, Glofox founders O'Loughlin, Hegarty and Anthony Kelly will continue to have leadership roles within the business.
