Equinox has appointed a Health Advisory Board of medical experts and academics to 'define new frontiers in the science of health optimisation for the next generation.'

Supporting the Equinox Fitness Training Institute, which offers accredited training for performance coaches, the Health Advisory Board will advance the mission of Equinox to push boundaries, anticipate what’s coming next and will drive innovative, proprietary programming for members and coaches.

“At Equinox we are relentless in our pursuit of delivering results to our community and the accomplished members of our Health Advisory Board will be instrumental in helping take our shared commitment to new heights in 2024 and beyond,” says Scott DeRue, president of Equinox.

The board includes experts in a range of key disciplines:

Strength and conditioning specialist, Eric Cressey , the director of player health and performance for the New York Yankees, who has worked with more than 100 professional baseball players.

Functional medicine expert, Dr Mark Hyman, founder and director of The UltraWellness Centre, as well as the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine.

Women’s cancer specialist, Dr Stephanie Kuku, a former surgical oncologist, as well as chief knowledge officer at Conceivable Life Sciences and health technology advisor in digital health and artificial intelligence at Hardian Health.

Sleep expert and co-author of Sleep for Success, Dr Rebecca Robbins, who is assistant professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and associate scientist at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr Jordan Shlain, the founder of Private Medical, a multi-family office for Health and Medicine, as well as EatReal and AI digital health company, Healthloop.

Equinox operates 107 full-service, luxury clubs in major cities, including New York, LA, London, Toronto and Vancouver offering movement, nutrition, regeneration and community.

Its three London clubs in Kensington, Bishopsgate and Mayfair (E St James's) have had a challenging time through the pandemic, with losses reported for 2021 of £11.866 million and £17.743 million for 2022, with the company reportedly taking steps to extract itself from a number of other leases.

The business is owned by real estate giant, Related Companies.

Equinox has also embarked on developing hotels, with the first opening in New York's Hudson Yards development in 2019.

Although it was rumoured Related might have put Equinox Hotels up for sale, it has just signed for a second location in Saudi Arabia at the super-luxe Red Sea development.
