– Rod Hill

Core Health & Fitness is proud to have signed an exclusive supplier agreement for the roll-out of all projected clubs with Énergie Fitness Iberia over the next seven years.

This follows the announcement in October that former president of TRIB3 and director-general of Anytime Fitness Iberia, Rod Hill, and founder of Basic-Fit Spain and Énergie Fitness CEO, George Houtenbos, have signed a master franchise agreement with Énergie Fitness to develop 75 clubs in Spain and Portugal over the next 10 years.

Hill commented: “We’re looking forward to working with Core Health & Fitness in Spain as our exclusive partner and feel very confident that together we can develop exciting products and services for our franchisees and members to reflect the new hybrid fitness model post-COVID.”

The concept is full fit-out clubs with large gyms kitted out with products from Core’s full portfolio including Star Trac cardio equipment, StairMaster HIIT products, Nautilus commercial strength products, Schwinn indoor cycling bikes and Throwdown for functional fitness solutions.

The agreement will provide the best fitness equipment for Énergie Fitness Iberia clubs, plus up to three studios, including; group cycling, ‘Energie Yard’ – its exclusive HIIT training concept – and multi-purpose studios for group exercise, holistic and dance classes.

The first club is due to open spring 2021 in Barcelona which is an ideal location for the first corporate site featuring all three studios.

It will become a central hub for potential franchisees and will also be used by Core Health & Fitness as a flagship site for prospective customers.

Michel Somford, Core Health & Fitness director of European sales, said: “We’re excited to have such a great partner with similar purpose and values to represent our brands in Spain and grow our presence in that market.

“Our brands align making this a perfect partnership and we are committed to working together to ensure we offer Spanish members the best equipment and experience.”

In addition to providing facilities with state-of-the-art customised equipment, Core Health & Fitness will provide service, training, marketing support and continuing education for Énergie Fitness Iberia and their franchisees.

Houtenbos, CEO of Énergie Fitness Iberia says, “We’ve chosen Core Health & Fitness because of their internationally-known high-quality equipment, their great international team and the added value of being a multi-brand supplier.

“This diversity is important to our franchisees and we believe strongly in the success of the synergy we felt from day one.”
