Cognitive intelligence training firm BlazePod secures US$8.5m funding

Sport and fitness tech firm, BlazePod, is expanding its US operations with the opening of its first US office in San Diego, California.

Founded in 2017 by Israeli entrepreneur Yaniv Shneiderman, BlazePod is the creator of the Flash Reflex (FRX) training programme, which combines cognitive intelligence with physical exercises to enable athletes and fitness enthusiasts of all levels to improve reaction time and performance.

The interactive training aid develops speed and strength using visual cues provided by touch sensor pods controlled by a mobile app.

The uniquely designed lighting pods create visual cues and prompts to enhance workouts, challenge speed, agility, reaction times and other fitness elements.

The BlazePod app links mobile devices to the Pods via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), controlling the way the pods work for each specific drill, and receiving data back as each pod’s light is tapped out.

This allows the BlazePod console to also function as a personal fitness platform able to track individual and group user performance, while providing data-driven insights within the app.

Users have the option to choose from BlazePod’s catalog of workouts, or create a custom workout right within the app, based on training needs.

As well as being utilised by health clubs and studios, BlazePod is used by around 300,000 pro and amateur athletes and trainers across 120 countries from the NFL to Formula 1.

The company was among the finalists of ukactive's ActiveLab 2019 initiative, which supported startups that are using technology to help people become healthier and more active.

BlazePod's US office opening – and expansion in the North American market – comes after the company secured an US$8.5m Series A funding round, led by AP Partners.

Blazepod's Tom Judge said: “In just a few short years, our company has transformed the reaction training world with education and interactive technology that allows our customers to perform better, both on and off the field.

“Our new US office gives us a great opportunity to grow the brand and educate our community of coaches, athletes, fitness trainers, and therapists about the benefits flash reflex training has on our mind and our bodies.”

Founder and CEO, Yaniv Shneiderman, added: “My mission in creating BlazePod was to motivate, educate, and inspire the world to think quicker and perform better by offering a revolutionary training experience.

“Our US team is ready to transform the training world with an unbeatable, exciting performance tool proven to enhance workouts, boost performance, and help individuals of all ages achieve true excellence.”
