Wearable technology pioneer, Ultrahuman, has launched a smart ring able to detect atrial fibrillation, the most common type of irregular heart rhythm.
The smart ring, AIR, offers a range of plug-ins – PowerPlugs – allowing people to select according to what they want to measure. AFib Detection is the most recent PowerPlug addition which monitors the heart rhythm while users are sleeping. Atrial fibrillation can lead to serious health complications such as stroke and heart failure if undetected.
Ultrahuman founder and CEO, Mohit Kumar, says: “When it comes to health, one size doesn’t fit all. That’s why we built PowerPlugs for people to pick and choose what matters most for their health and wellness.
He says the AFib detection is gamechanging: “This life saving technology comes with medical approval in limited markets currently and we’re aggressively launching new markets with regulator’s approval every few weeks.”
Other plug-ins are Circadian Rhythm which suggest optimal times for natural light exposure, exercise and to wind down in the evening.
Pregnancy Mode offers personalised health monitoring and recommendations for pregnant women.
Cycle Tracking accurately predicts menstrual cycles, including fertility windows and symptom patterns.
Caffeine Window tracks the consumption of stimulants and the body’s response to advice on the best time to boost alertness without impacting sleep.
Vitamin D advises people on the best time to go outside based on skin type, location and current UV index to allow safe exposure to sunlight.
Jet Lag offers detailed schedules to follow before, during and after trips to help reset the circadian clock.
Weight Loss monitors glucose levels and calorie intake versus expenditure to maintain a balanced diet and support weight loss goals.
Ovulation allows women to understand their ovulation cycles and detect the most fertile days.
