Virtuagym has launched a Video Workout platform which is natively integrated into its existing suite of products.
The feature will allow Virtuagym customers to create their own workout libraries in the Virtuagym portal and make them available for end-users in their own customisable club mobile app.
Health club members can then schedule and do the workouts whenever and wherever they like while tracking calories burned – a feature that syncs with Virtuagym's nutrition system.
Fitness operators using the system can also assign videos directly to users at specific times and at certain difficulty and intensity levels. The workouts can be streamed to TVs via Chromecast and Apple TV, in order to provide a full-screen experience.
Virtuagym also revealed that an upcoming, integrated heart rate tracking option will further enhance the experience, allowing clients and their trainers to monitor performance during a session and gain an overall summary in a post-training detail screen.
Hugo Braam, CEO and co-founder of Virtuagym, said the additions will cater to health club operators looking to provide members with a hybrid fitness experience.
“The ability to build and manage workout video content and integrate it into their club's mobile app allows fitness operators to offer clients an engaging home workout experience," Braam said.
"This way they can deliver a hybrid offering that provides clients with the flexibility to work out how, when and where they want.
“This has become a core demand of modern fitness consumers, who are increasingly expecting quality experiences and services beyond just the four walls of their fitness facility.”
Earlier this year, a global customer survey by Virtuagym found that close to half (45 per cent) of gyms and a third of fitness studios (32 per cent) and personal trainers (36 per cent) had used technology to provide home workout content.
