Welsh FA strengthens recovery provision with Team CryoSpa Pro Ice Bath installation ahead of World Cup Qualifiers
The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has further enhanced its player recovery facilities with the installation of a Team CryoSpa Pro unit, supplied by cold water therapy specialists CET CryoSpas, at its headquarters within The Vale Resort in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The FAW first partnered with CET in 2019, introducing cold water therapy at its Colliers Park training facility in Wrexham. Since then, the organisation has continued to invest in its performance infrastructure to support players competing at the highest level of international football.
As part of its ongoing development, the FAW’s headquarters at The Vale Resort underwent a £3 million expansion in 2025, significantly upgrading the facilities available for elite training and preparation. The installation of the Team CryoSpa Pro unit forms a key part of this enhancement, providing advanced cold water immersion capabilities for players from both male and female teams.
The installation comes at an important time for the FAW, offering additional recovery resources to support athlete preparation ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers at the end of March. Designed specifically for high-performance sport, the Team CryoSpa Pro enables consistent temperature control, optimal immersion depth and efficient use by multiple athletes, supporting effective recovery protocols during demanding training and competition schedules.
CET worked closely with the FAW and The Vale Resort team to ensure the installation integrated seamlessly into the upgraded facility, meeting the practical demands of elite sport while maintaining ease of use for players and staff.
Adrian Worsley, managing director at CET CryoSpas, said: "We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Football Association of Wales as they invest in world-class facilities. Cold water immersion is a vital part of modern recovery strategies, and the Team CryoSpa Pro is designed to deliver consistent, high-quality ice bath experiences that elite athletes can rely on, particularly during key competitive periods such as World Cup qualification."
CET CryoSpas is widely recognised as the market leader in ice bath solutions for elite sport, with its systems used by top-level athletes and organisations across more than 60 countries. Working across football, cricket, basketball and other high-performance disciplines, CET continues to set the standard for professional-grade cold water immersion, delivering reliable, high-quality recovery experiences trusted at the very highest level of sport.
Middlesbrough FC boosts recovery facilities with Team CryoSpa Pro installation at Rockliffe Hall
Middlesbrough Football Club has enhanced its player recovery and performance infrastructure with the installation of a Team CryoSpa Pro ice bath system at its Rockliffe Hall training ground. The new setup, supplied by cold water therapy specialists CET CryoSpas, can accommodate up to eight players simultaneously, providing advanced recovery support for the whole squad.
The Team CryoSpa Pro is CET’s flagship product for elite sport. Its patented jet system delivers a deeper, more penetrating cold into the muscles, while the 1.2-metre depth of the baths generates hydrostatic pressure akin to compression garments - optimising recovery and supporting performance.
Middlesbrough FC has integrated the ice baths into its already extensive facilities as part of its preparation for a push to return to the Premier League. The installation provides players and performance staff with reliable, high-quality cold water immersion capabilities, enabling more efficient recovery from training and match-day workloads.
Adrian Worsley, managing director at CET CryoSpas, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Middlesbrough FC to deliver our Team CryoSpa Pro system. Cold water immersion plays a critical role in elite performance, and the dual-bath setup ensures multiple players can recover effectively at the same time. The combination of our patented jets and hydrostatic depth provides a truly professional-grade recovery experience.”
This installation further reinforces CET CryoSpas’ reputation as the market leader in ice bath solutions for elite sport. Used by top-level athletes and teams across more than 60 countries, CET’s systems support recovery and performance in football, cricket, basketball, and other high-performance disciplines worldwide.
MCC Lord’s installs CryoSpa units to support player recovery
MCC Lord’s has upgraded its player recovery facilities with the installation of four CryoSpa ice bath units, supplied by cold water therapy specialists CET.
As the Home of Cricket, Lord’s supports players competing at the very highest level, both domestically and internationally. The club now has a reliable, high-quality recovery solution that fits seamlessly into its existing performance environment. CET was chosen for its strong track record in elite sport and its experience delivering robust systems at some of the world’s most famous sporting venues.
The aim was to provide a professional-grade cold water therapy setup that could be used by multiple players, maintain consistent temperatures, and operate dependably throughout busy schedules. CET worked closely with the Lord’s team to ensure the installation met the practical demands of training and matchdays, including smooth player access and minimal disruption.
The CryoSpa units are designed for high-performance sport, offering optimal immersion depth and CET’s patented jet system to ensure consistent cold exposure. This is particularly valuable for cricketers, who place heavy demands on their lower bodies through bowling and fielding, as well as on their shoulders, arms and hands through throwing, batting and bowling. Cold water therapy is widely used to help reduce muscle soreness, manage inflammation and support recovery during packed competition schedules.
Installed in both the home and away dressing rooms, the units are now available to all teams playing at Lord’s. This ensures that both home and visiting players have access to the same high standard of recovery support.
Adrian Worsley, managing director at CET, says: "Working with a venue as historic and performance-focused as Lord’s means providing equipment that players and staff can rely on day in, day out. The CryoSpa units are built to meet the specific physical demands of cricket, and we’re proud to see our technology supporting athletes at such an iconic ground."
This latest installation further strengthens CET’s presence at leading sporting venues. Alongside Lord’s, CET has also completed projects at Wembley Stadium and the Wimbledon Championships, supporting athletes at the homes of football, tennis and now cricket.

CET launches comprehensive cold-water immersion CPD course
CET CryoSpas, the global leader in cold-water immersion technology, trusted by elite sports organisations worldwide, has announced the launch of its comprehensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training course on cold-water immersion therapy. This programme addresses the growing demand for qualified practitioners as cold-water therapy becomes increasingly popular in fitness, wellness, and rehabilitation settings.
The course is specifically designed for facility operators, gym staff, lifeguards, and wellness professionals who support clients using cold-water immersion systems. As the market has expanded rapidly, CET recognise the critical need for standardised training that ensures safe, effective delivery of cold-water therapy while maintaining the highest standards of member care and facility compliance.
Participants will gain a complete understanding of cold-water immersion science, from the physiological responses and key benefits to recognising suitable users and contraindications. The comprehensive training covers critical safety protocols including risk management, breathing techniques, and progression guidelines, alongside essential hygiene and maintenance standards that meet the latest industry regulations published by PWTAG and BISHTA. Real-world case studies, evidence-based myth-busting, and performance applications demonstrate how to confidently answer client questions and adapt protocols for different needs.
"The rapid growth of cold-water immersion therapy has created an urgent need for proper education and standardisation," said Colin Edgar, Managing Director of CET CryoSpas. "Too many operators are learning on the job without understanding the critical safety considerations and physiological responses involved. Upon completion, participants will have the expertise to uphold CET's worldwide standards of excellence while helping clients achieve their recovery and wellness goals safely and effectively.
