About us
The focus for two decades was low temperature saltwater hydrotherapy, in particular the CryoSpa Sport Ice Bath, now the premier ice bath model across Europe and the Middle East. CET have supplied London 2012 Olympics, Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Qatar World Cup, Paris 2024 Olympics and many elite sports clubs including AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Wembley and Wimbledon.

During Covid lockdown, managing director, Colin Edgar focused on increasing the ice bath range launching the CryoHome ice baths for home use.

Colin, also patented the revolutionary CoreTx palm cooling device which significantly delays fatigue and enhances performance. The CoreTx delivers benefits for elite sport and gym sectors.

Founded by Colin Edgar in 2002, CET designed a low temperature saltwater equine spa used for treating tendon and ligament injuries in horses. Over 5 years of treating injuries proved vital in developing the CryoSpa Ice Bath to maximise the therapeutic effect rather than simply removing the need for ice.

Key products and services
Building on five years of experience in treating soft tissue injuries in horses, CET’s flagship product, the CryoSpa Sport ice bath was designed to maximise the therapeutic effect while meeting all requirements for commercial use. The unique combination of depth, saltwater, massage effect from the jets and cooling by convection resulted in faster recovery post-exercise or post-injury.

As CET clients were initially all in the elite sports sector, including, for example, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Manchester City, it was essential to fully comply with all EU & UK health & safety regulations including HSG282 which specifies skim filtration is essential to remove the 60% of pollutants in spas which float.

For the home and wellness sector, CET has designed the CryoHome Ice Bath Range. A series of premium, hand-crafted ice baths at a lower price point.

The CoreTx GO is the latest innovation from CET and is used by cooling the palms of the hand during the rest periods of workouts. Multiple scientific studies, including papers from Stanford University, have shown this simple, localised cooling causes incredible reductions in fatigue and significantly enhances performance. The device easily integrates into any gym and can be used by two people at once.

Testimonial
"We’re always trying new, better ways of doing things – on and off the ice – looking for that extra 1%. This partnership with CET Ltd has transformed the way that we train and provides an opportunity for us to implement market-leading technology into our game preparation.”
– Steve Thornton, group head of commercial and hockey, The Odyssey Trust
“We knew recovery was beginning to become popular, not only with professional athletes but recreational players too, ensuring we had the facilities to cater to them made complete sense to us. We’ve seen a clear uptick in memberships and visits, driven by the CET CryoSpa as no other facilities in the area can match the recovery tools, we have available, and consequently the hotel has also become the hotel of choice for wellness tourism.”
– Simon Millar, club manager, BodyScape
“The CoreTx GO has been a big hit. Members using the CoreTx have achieved 50% to 117% increase in only four to six sessions. It is a must for performance-based gyms and facilities that want to offer their members the best possible technology, as well as differentiating themselves from the competition.”
– Matthew Lawrence, Team GB physio, London 2012 and owner and head coach, CrossFit 2012

CET’s CoreTx Go Palm Cooling device crucial to World Record attempt
In an extraordinary display of endurance and dedication, Idai Makaya, former world record pull-up holder, is gearing up to challenge the current world record for the most squats completed in a 24-hour period, which stands at an impressive 25,000.

Idai plans to surpass this milestone while employing innovative CoreTx GO palm cooling technology throughout his attempt to delay fatigue, moderate core temperature and enhance performance.

Makaya's quest is deeply personal, driven by a commitment to continue the philanthropic legacy of his brother, Garai, who tragically lost his life in a skydiving accident. Since 2018, following Garai's passing, Idai has embarked on a series of extreme ultra-endurance events to raise funds for causes in Southern Africa. This upcoming Guinness World Record attempt aims to raise £4,000 to install a borehole for the Hupenyu Hutsva orphanage in Harare, Zimbabwe. The provision of a clean, unlimited water supply will significantly impact the lives of the 65 children residing at the orphanage, drastically improving sanitation and reducing the risk of waterborne diseases which have plagued the area.

Idai's training regimen for this gruelling challenge is as innovative as his fundraising approach. Utilising the CoreTx Go Palm Cooling device, he has tailored his workouts to optimise endurance and recovery. Training three times a week, his sessions range from high-intensity squats in an EMS studio to longer, more sustained squatting sessions over the weekends. The use of palm cooling has been pivotal in allowing Idai to extend the duration and intensity of his workouts without succumbing to muscle fatigue or overheating, demonstrating a unique approach to physical conditioning.

Commenting on the use of Palm Cooling throughout his training sessions Idai has stated that, “The secret to this type of training is to never sweat… If my muscles start to burn or fail, I just hold the palm cooler and keep squatting until I start to feel more normal again. It is very noticeable how the muscle pain ramps up if I don't constantly hold the palm cooler in my hands… If my hands feel like they are freezing I'll stop the palm cooling for a few minutes until they warm up, then I hold it again.”

As Makaya approaches this monumental task, he not only prepares to set a new world record but also to make a significant difference in the lives of children in need. The event promises to be a testament to human resilience, the spirit of giving, and the power of community support in achieving extraordinary feats.
